When we had the crisis back in the seventies it was about energy/power.
I was working in a suit factory in Leeds and we didn’t question why it was happening, we just knew we had to work a three-day week and our wages would half. So we got on with it, making sure we had enough candles, as they were a necessity when the lights went out. An eerie time, but it was what it was.
Whether it was the youth of being a teenager I don’t know.
But this crisis is very different, for one its not national, its worldwide, and it’s about the health of the whole planet. Therefore, this time I haven’t just sat back and listened to what the Tv has told me, I’ve researched many, many avenues and had lots of discussion along the way.
That doesn’t make me a conspiracy theorist, it makes me smarter than I was as a teen. I now want to know what’s happening to our planet and the people on it.
I’ve learnt in my sixty-five years that not everyone is honest – that the rich want to get richer – that the famous want to be more famous and that the powerful want more power. But for most of us on the planet (and I say this in my book) we just want to be healthy, secure, have a purpose and to love and be loved. That’s our basic human right.
Therefore, I’ll dig amongst the piles and piles of info which isn’t so easy these days with fake news and with the tech that can have us believe an event happened just because we saw it on the screen, and I’ll do what I did at the start of this nightmare – I’ll trust my gut.
I suppose the other thing I have alongside age, is courage and tenacity, which I built from the last four years of needing to know what went wrong with my sons’ care and again it was only with much digging that I know what I know now.
There is a lot of mis-info about and a lot of injustice, but there’s a hell of a lot of good people who I believe will shed light where there is darkness.
We are a spirit first, housed in a body, to enjoy this fantastic journey of life, so when this is over let’s make sure we do just that. Just as I sign in all my books; Enjoy your journey!
Hopefully we will be back in class soon enjoying each other’s company, wisdom and laughter. Much love x
